Color in the office is more than paint – it’s a powerful design tool that can guide behavior, organize the spatial layout, and reinforce brand values. The right selection of hues can turn a workspace into a calm oasis or a stimulating playground that sparks creativity.

For this reason, Mute Modular offers a broad range of 24 colors. We’re continually amazed by how architects use these hues in diverse, inspiring ways.

Chromatic Diversity at Vinci’s Frankfurt Office

At Vinci’s office in Frankfurt, the company set out to break the monotony of uniform workplace colors and create a vibrant space that reflects the company’s diversity. Guided by the idea that each employee is different, the designers gave each office area its own unique character.

To bring this vision to life, architect Marcin Grala used five colors from Mute Modular’s palette – Ink Blue, Clay Red, Sage Green, Sand Beige, and Ash Grey – which acted as a color foundation for 5 office zones. All other hues in each zone were adjusted to visually harmonize with them.

The goal was to create a flexible environment where employees can choose their seat each day. Each of 5 zones zone is defined by a different hue, signaling a distinct atmosphere and helping employees find the setting best suited to their tasks and mood.

While vibrant Clay Red injects energy, softer shades like Sand Beige add warmth and calm, making it easier to concentrate and stay productive. Sage Green introduces freshness and balance. Ash Grey grounds the palette, offering a timeless, soothing tone that helps maintain focus.

Colors organize the space, offering users a variety of zones to work in.

Monochrome by Design – Aleph Alpha’s HQ in Heidelberg

At Aleph Alpha’s office in Heidelberg, Void Black was selected for the Mute Modular units to create a subtly toned environment that encourages focus. Architects from Glatz & Glatz studio aimed to separate the space into clearly defined functional areas.

As a result, Mute Modular rooms were placed in the team-focused upstairs zone, as a calm counterpoint to the more energetic ground floor – home to workshops, spontaneous socializing, and dining. The design intent was to keep the upper office area in a neutral, understated aesthetic. Kept in black tones, the rooms align perfectly with the project goals, providing tranquil settings for private calls, solo work, and small-group collaboration.

With the monochromatic base, no elements in the space visually compete with each other, which supports clarity in day-to-day work. This restrained use of color creates a harmonious feel and fosters concentration – balancing the vibrancy of the environment downstairs.

Additionally, it underlines the company’s sleek character: black is often associated with innovation and premium quality – key values for a modern AI innovator.

The palette is complemented by warm, earthy tones in the internal canteen, adding a sense of comfort to a space intended for rest, while making the office more welcoming.

Energizing Bold Palette: Uphill’s Lisbon Workspace

Uphill’s Lisbon office uses bold tones to energize the workspace and create a visually striking space.

Mute Modular hubs located in the middle of the space, with Clay Red frames, are set against a deep ultramarine central office wall, forming a powerful visual contrast that clarifies spatial order.

The vivid pairing of tones turns the Mute Modular units into iconic office points, helping the team navigate the space intuitively and creating a sensory-rich setting.

This deliberate color interplay transforms the interior into a dynamic setting that stimulates creativity and enhances the overall user experience.

“The Mute Modular contributed expressively to creating a balanced environment — one that fosters innovation, wellbeing, and collaboration — while maintaining the aesthetic coherence of the office” – explains Rita Varela Gomes, architect who designed the space along with André Pires.

Prioritizing Comfort: Subtle Tones at Mute’s Warsaw Office

At Mute’s Warsaw office, the main goal was to create an environment that puts users’ comfort first – supporting concentration and providing an inviting, homey atmosphere.

When selecting the Mute Modular colors, architect Paweł Panek aimed to integrate the units seamlessly with the office’s naturally muted base palette. As a result, the space feels versatile and pleasant to work in, with the units becoming a natural, integrated part of the subtle background.

Soft Sand Beige, Ash Grey, and Moss Brown tones form the core set of colors for Mute Modular rooms. Sand Beige, a natural counterpart to oak, grounds the interior with warmth. Neutral Ash Grey brings serenity without dominating the space, while slightly darker Moss Brown subtly draws the eye, aiding orientation. One of the smaller units in a customized plumlike hue acts as a visual marker – it stands out against the light palette and is easy to locate when a quick call requires privacy.

Since the space also functions as a showroom for clients, the rooms are framed in light, subdued tones that avoid an artificial, staged feel. Instead, they create a welcoming place for employees, prioritizing user experience.

From Aleph Alpha’s monochrome palette to Uphill’s bold contrasting tones, the color strategy of Mute Modular rooms and units elevates each space to achieve the desired atmosphere and design intent.

Color becomes a language through which workplaces can flow and truly come alive, adding character and meaning.
