As their Milan branch was relocating, the company needed a workspace that would mark a clear step forward from the previous offices – offering more comfort, boosting productivity, and reflecting the company’s spirit through interior design.

The layout had to mirror the company’s dual structure, supporting both administrative and corporate teams, as well as the technical engineering department.

Defining the Design Vision

Thyssenkrupp needed a solution for the restricted‑access area dedicated to clients and suppliers that could deliver flexibility, strong aesthetic appeal, and high‑quality acoustic performance.

They were looking for comfortable spaces for onsite and video meetings – without relying on traditional drywall construction or making any adjustments to existing mechanical systems such as HVAC.

The Perfect Fit for Modern Workstyles

Mute’s adaptable workplace design solutions offered exactly what the team needed. An adaptable room-in-room system, Mute Modular, was selected for its unique balance of acoustic quality, functionality, and versatility, helping to limit the long-term costs of potential reconfigurations.

 

At the heart of the setup are two 3×3 m Mute Modular units. Installed in a restricted-access area, they provide a dedicated meeting room as well as a fully equipped video conferencing space.

 

The system’s flexibility, refined design, and seamless user experience were key reasons behind the choice, while its broad palette of colors and customization options made it possible to align the configuration precisely with the project’s aesthetic and functional goals. 

 

To support a wider range of work modes, the project also incorporated eleven Jetson office pods. These budget-friendly office pods, available in universal sizes, create a cohesive mix of spaces tailored to different tasks. Mute architect consultants supported the team in defining the optimal configuration.

Where Productivity and Focus Find Their Place

The Modular units have quickly become an essential part of the workspace. They deliver reliable acoustic isolation and offer a calm environment for employees whenever they need uninterrupted work time – a benefit the team regularly points out, noting how much it improves focus and call quality.

Comfort is at the core of every Mute Modular space. In addition to the acoustic performance, the ability to adjust lighting intensity, color temperature, and ventilation levels is a valuable feature that enhances both user experience and overall functionality of Mute Modular rooms. For the team, they are extremely straightforward to use, with lighting and ventilation that switch on automatically as soon as someone steps in.

In the future, Mute Modular rooms can be easily reconfigured, generating minimal levels of waste or CO₂ emissions, giving Thyssenkrupp the freedom to easily reshape the workspace as teams and priorities shift.
