Adaptable Design: Ready for What’s Next

The modular design will support Skyscanner’s needs for years to come. Built from fully interchangeable modules linked with a patented click-in system, the units can be resized and repurposed as quickly as teams or work patterns evolve. This approach future‑proofs the space and speeds up future refurbishments.

Rather than demolishing and rebuilding, Skyscanner can repurpose the setup to create new room types, significantly cutting time, cost, and environmental waste. Looking ahead, Skyscanner is considering expanding the use of Mute Modular rooms across more offices, given how well they have met the company’s needs up to now in the UK.

“We are currently looking to change our office in Barcelona, similar to what we did in London, Glasgow, and Edinburgh. We like the product, and we’d like to have it in other locations as well since we have received such good feedback,” – adds Gonzalo Silva.

The adaptable room-in-room system proved to be the most practical fit for a dynamic, travel-tech company. The quiet, stylish spaces support agile collaboration – enabling fast, low-cost reconfigurations as needs evolve.

Mute Modular: A Solution for Evolving Workplace Needs

Mute Modular, an innovative room-in-room system, proved to be the perfect choice. Skyscanner selected the solution for its exceptional acoustic performance, fast plug-and-play installation, and unmatched reconfigurability. Having had a positive experience with Mute office pods across all of their UK locations, the company was eager to implement Mute’s new modular technology.

They opted for three Mute Modular rooms in an elegant, Sage Green tone: one larger, 5x2.5 m, and two measuring 2.5x2.5 m. Positioned for easy, intuitive access, the units fit seamlessly into the floorplate to create calm zones for group sessions and deliver much‑needed privacy in a lively HQ. The result is a functional fit‑out that prioritizes user experience.

Future-Proof Space for a Dynamic Company

Skyscanner, a leading global travel technology company, constantly brings innovation to its workplaces. At its Edinburgh headquarters, the team faced the challenge of creating an environment that could match the pace of a fast-evolving organization.

They required larger, adaptable meeting spaces that would combine stylish design with integrated ventilation and sound insulation – to keep conversations comfortable and confidential. It was also essential that the layout could be reconfigured quickly to meet the changing demands of hybrid work.

The company already had a collection of acoustic pods, but as their needs changed, they required more spacious rooms and the ability to tailor their size to current demands and interior layout.

Increased Comfort and Employee Satisfaction

All Mute Modular rooms immediately received positive feedback from the team, quickly becoming some of the most frequently used spaces for conversations and collaboration. Employees praise the rooms for their style and outstanding acoustic performance – the rooms effectively block outside noise and voices, ensuring meeting confidentiality and a focused environment.

The design of Mute Modular units also frees up valuable space by reducing traffic in large, traditional meeting rooms. “We also appreciate that you can change the size,” says Gonzalo Silva, Senior Workplace Manager at Skyscanner. “Even if a room feels too big for six people today, we can easily convert it in the future by adding a wall and dividing it into two.

“I highly recommend Mute Modular rooms to other companies, especially those in forward-thinking and dynamic industries. They are stylish yet seamlessly integrate into any office environment. Plus, they’re fully reconfigurable, allowing for easy adjustments to size or layout—perfectly suited to the fast-paced nature of modern work.”
